"From sandstorms in the desert to the constant rain in Central Europe, this camera body was built for extremes."

When the desire arose for a lighter, more flexible, yet robust housing, it was clear: The solution had to perform better than aluminum – while also offering more flexibility. Together with our customer, a three-year development process resulted in a camera housing that combines uncompromising durability with modern design, innovative materials, and maximum functionality.

Our customer develops high-performance camera systems for extreme outdoor applications – from the desert in Saudi Arabia to the humid climate of Europe. Until now, they used solid aluminum housings. In 2021, they approached us with the request to develop a lighter, more cost-effective, and more flexible housing – without compromising on durability. Our task: a weatherproof, thermally sophisticated camera housing that sets new standards in additive manufacturing. Flexibility in design, rapid implementation, and close collaboration – from the sketch to the production-ready product – were crucial.

The project launched in 2022. Over three years of close co-creation, a well-thought-out overall concept emerged – with numerous iterations, tests, and further developments. Together, we developed, among other things: a two-part, precisely fitting housing system; a custom-printed sealing solution using silicone molding; a copper mesh cooling system manufactured using SLA and wax casting; a two-tone housing – black inside to reduce reflections, white outside to reduce heat input; as well as an integrated sunshade and durable materials that can withstand even extreme weather conditions.

All components were tested, optimized, and perfectly coordinated. The collaboration was solution-oriented, collaborative, and creative—a true co-creation process. The result: a high-tech product that impresses with its smart choice of materials, intelligent design, and uncompromising functionality. We are proud of this pioneering project and look forward to series production.
